Welcome to Timmins! Today we are taking a sneak peek at some of the arts and culture hubs across Timmins. From looms weaving alpaca wool to the Timmins Museum to the tranquil waters of Gillies Lake there is lots to see.
Timmins is known as “City with the Heart of Gold” not only because of its strong mineral production, but also because of its rich cultural communities. Each year Timmins comes together to celebrate the Multi-Cultural Festival, Indigenous Day, St-Jean Baptiste Day, Canada Day, Rock on the River, weekly Summer Outdoor Concerts, the Fall Fair, the annual Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival, the annual Eclipse Financial Snowcross Pro-Challenge and, of course, Ontario Culture Days.
For this year’s festival season Timmins Culture Days is highlighting some of the great arts and culture groups in their community. Follow Culture Days Timmins on Facebook for the inside scoop on where to find dazzling murals around the city, learn who is making music on the waterfront, and how to get creative en plein air. Some of the featured organizations include the Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre, Porcupine Art Club, Timmins Symphony Orchestra, Timmins Police Pipes & Drums, and the Indigenous Mural Project in the City of Timmins.
Throughout the entire Ontario Culture Days festival, we’ll be dropping in on many different communities across the province. Hit the button below to check out the growing roster of these featured communities.
