Welcome to St Jacobs!

Located at the heart of Mennonite Country in Waterloo Region, St Jacobs has been a bustling centre for arts tourism since the mid-eighteen hundreds. This town has many draws like their restaurants, shops, cafes, access to nature via walks along the banks of the Grand River, and the Three Sisters Cultural Centre! Jax Rula is the Artistic Director at the Three Sisters Cultural Centre where regional artists can work and sell to an international tourist base. We borrowed her ear about the best things to do in St Jacobs and where to look for exciting events during Ontario Culture Days festival!

Sunday afternoons at the “Culture Lot” during Ontario Culture Days are sure to satisfy your culture-cravings with Tai Chi, a Drum Circle, a Puppet Show, and Fibre Arts Day. There are many diverse event options for you to enjoy in the Township of Woolwich; take a look at what is being offered through the Event Hub here.

There is so much art, culture and food to appreciate in St Jacobs and Woolwich this Fall! Here is a collection of all registered events in the region. Enjoy!

To rest and refuel in between Ontario Culture Days activities, check out these local recommendations from Jax Rula:

  1. Block Three Brewing started in 2013 and make a variety of beers in house. Enjoy the patio or indoor dining and drinking for lunch or dinner.
  2. The Tasting House features locally made beer, wine and spirits and foods.
  3. Tea Earth & Sky offers over 50 different organic loose leaf teas and is proud to support 16 local artisans.
