Welcome to Halton Hills! Today we are joining Ayslin Higgins for a tour around this charming hamlet of neighborhoods. Follow along to get the inside scoop on what to see, where to be, and how to celebrate with Halton Hills for the Ontario Culture Days festival!
We started off taking a tour at the Halton Hills Library and Cultural Centre. This cultural hub includes the Helson Gallery, the John Elliot Theatre, and the Georgetown branch of the Halton Hills Public Library.
We then had the chance to go behind-the-scenes and hear from Centre Stage at the JET artists: Tina Newlove, Jean Assamoa from Akwaba Cultural Exchange and Braden and Liv from Tragedy Ann.
Ontario Culture Days Programming:
- Today we are heading to the John Elliott Theatre to meet some talented individuals. As part of the Centre Stage at the JET series, we will have the chance to tune into livestream performances by Tina Newlove, Jean Assamoa, Akwaba from Cultural Exchange, Tragedy Ann, and Meagan Speakman with her advance youth dance students.
- Meet some creatives! Join Francesca Durham, in conversation with a few of the arts & culture workers who help to make Halton Hills a culturally vibrant community! Tune into the Arts & Culture Conversations series here.
- As part of their Ontario Culture Days celebrations and Doors Open, the Halton Hills Doors Open Committee invite you to explore Acton. Take a stroll and learn about historic houses or admire the design and craftsmanship of the buildings in the area. Find a link to the tour here.
- Halton Hills Public Library has something for everyone, whether you are a film fanatic or culinary creative. Some of their programming includes the Moccasin Identifier Project happening on October 17, Virtual French Movie Night on Oct 21, and a digital recording of the From Kitchen to Kiln: Women’s Culinary Labour on Ontario Tobacco Farms, 1950s-1970s lecture.
